crows in the orchard (sold)

Crows and black birds often feature in my paintings. Originally they came to be part of them because I had a pair of crows that used to visit my garden and sit on a wall watching me as I weeded (they were probably eagerly awaiting the uncovering of worms), they would bring their young ones and I became acquainted with them over a long period of time. I began to identify them symbolically with love and family loyalty and protection, which I realise isn't their usual meaning. But then I do believe that symbols are entirely personal.
